My Top 5 Go To Products for Furniture Makeovers
It’s time for my Top 5 Go To Products for furniture makeovers.
I’ve made lots of mistakes while learning so save yourself some time and money and give these a go!
1. Cling On Brushes
I love all of them but the S40 in particular. It fits so perfectly in my hand and is also good for small spaces as it has a short handle. It is also my go-to blending brush. And did I mention that they don’t shed?
2. Zinsser B-I-N Shellac Based Primer Sealer
Ever suffered at the hands of the dreaded bleed through when painting a piece of furniture? Yep? Then this is the product for you. It stops all stains from coming through the paint. Dries in 20 minutes (normally two coats does the trick). Nothing gets through this stuff!
3. FIFO Bottles
FIFO stands for FIRST IN FIRST OUT. If you love to blend and mix colours then these bottles are a life-saver. They come in a few sizes. I get the biggest ones so pretty much a full can of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint fits in there. No more having 10 cans of paint open. No more crusty cans. Just shake and squeeze.
4. Fusion Mineral Paint’s Clear Glaze
I love this stuff. If you want to add another dimension to your painted furniture then this is it. It has a long open time and you can tint it with pretty much anything, not just fusion paint (I’ve tried). Just apply to your painted surface (wait at least 24 hours if using Fusion but if you are using chalk paint I would add a sealer and let that dry for 24 hours first) and wipe off as much or as little as you want. I tend to work in sections.
5. Rub & Buff
There are lots of gilding waxes out there but R&B have a large range and are my favourite. I just love their Gold Leaf one. Easily applied with your finger or a small brush it can highlight details in an instant.
I hope this was helpful. If you have any questions then comment below! Julia x
